In the first installment of Middle Aged Wasteland, Leif Gantvoort and Brett Sheridan take on the ultimate DIY challenge: building a war rig worthy of Wasteland Weekend, the post-apocalyptic Mad Max-inspired festival in California.
Their journey kicks off in Clear Lake, South Dakota, where Leif recruits his father, Doug Gantvoort, to dive into decades’ worth of collected car parts and vehicles, searching for the perfect pieces to craft their war rig. But there’s a catch—they just need to find tires that fit. Easy, right? Not so much. In this 4 part series, two knuckleheads (Leif Gantvoort and Brett Sheridan) set out to build a War Rig for Wasteland Weekend (the post apocalyptic Mad Max themed event that takes place in the Mojave Desert). They have less than 3 weeks to build the car in South Dakota, get it back to California, and to the Wasteland car show.
